Anthology Strings was crafted by Academy Award, TEC and G.A.N.G Award Winning Composer and Producer, Troels Folmann and Emmy-Nominated Composer and Orchestrator, Colin O’Malley. Anthology is the true reimagination of our original Adagio and Agitato String collections – hand-designed with our favorite 66.500 samples from both collections.

Sections
Anthology Strings contains three unique sections for both Violin(s), Viola(s), Cello(s) and Basse(s). The ensemble section is big and expressive. It includes a deep set of articulations, including fully developed group of true sordino articulations. The divisi chamber section is ensemble is smaller and intimate. It sounds stunningly good with our custom close microphone position. You can hear each stroke of every player. The solo section completes the experience with access to four virtuoso instruments, including Solo Violin, Solo Viola, Solo Cello and Solo Bass.

Microphones
Anthology Strings was recorded exclusively with Neumann Microphones in a famous church in San Francisco – a jewel known for its unique and expressive acoustics. We recorded the strings with a vast array of microphone positions that were diversified into three microphone positions, including Close, Mixed and Far. We developed exclusive techniques for the close microphones – in regards to capturing the strings without too much reverb. Try our Divisi Strings with Close Mic and you will understand. The mixed microphone offers a beautiful compilation of dozens of microphones into a resource effective, all-round sound that works for all general purposes. The far microphone gives you a unique far perspective and option for true surround sound design.

Intuitive
Anthology is intuitive and designed for a fast and unhindered workflow. We invented a proprietary 3D user-interface (UI) accessing everything with a click. Access any articulation with a single click. Control and assign keyswitches or CCs with one click. Create advanced sets of articulations in seconds. The Anthology user experience is second to none. Yet it is not just because of 300.000 lines of code or deep-sampled specifications. Anthology is intuitive because it sounds real. Liquified in human emotion. Intention in every note. A meaning to these dead samples. Whether you play our completely fluent Ensemble Legatos or a delicate Cello Chamber Section with the presence of close microphones. Anthology is intuitive in design and sound.

The gentle, fragile sounds of pianissimo with Divisi Cellos to the soaring legato of Ensemble Violins. The sentimental vibrato of the Solo Violin to the hauntingly loving cries of our Solo Cello. The emotional strokes of our dynamic Arcs to the feathery strokes of Spiccato. The dramatic intention in the Marcatos to the warmth of Pizzicatos. The Tremolo. The Trills and Sordino to give you chills. Everything about Anthology is emotion. Not only in sound, but in the DNA of the design and deep in the code.

The strings were all carefully processed and coded to operate exactly how you want them to. Intuitive, expressive and with a soul behind every note. The Anthology Engine does everything possible create the best possible experience for you. We’ve also included an immediate support guide in the library. The single page guide provides you with a detailed overview of all the special features inside the Anthology Engine. The default CC for Dynamics is 1 and 11 for Expression. We highly recommend you use both these features. Right click on anything and reassign controllers at your discretion.

Symmetrical
Anthology Strings is designed as a symmetrical library. All articulations perfectly mirrored across all String Sections. You find the most comprehensive set of articulations in our elaborate Ensemble Strings. The Anthology Chamber Strings follows with a uniform set of all articulations needed for emotional divisi strings. The Solo Strings are also symmetrical – and can do wonders together with the other ensembles or as stand-alone’s. The symmetry in Anthology offers reassurance and allows you to orchestrate in safety. The symmetry in Anthology is not just practical or mathematical. The symmetry is emotional. All String Sections in Anthology were recorded with their respective and contextual sweet spots in mind.
